A graduate in Law (Calcutta University) and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (FCA) and the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (FCS), Mr. Arun Nanda joined Machinery Manufacturers Corporation Ltd. in the year 1973 as a management accountant. Three years later, he moved on to Mahindra Sintered Products Ltd., Pune, as the Chief Accountant and Company Secretary. In the year 1986, he joined the parent company and was appointed as M&M Group's Executive Director shortly. In 1994, he was promoted as the President of the Group's Infrastructure & Development Sector.
Today, Mr. Nanda shoulders multiple responsibilities at corporate level - including secretarial, corporate governance, investments and corporate communications. A board member of several Mahindra & non-Mahindra companies, he is responsible for strategic planning and identifying new business opportunities. He is Executive Director of Mahindra & Mahindra Limited and President, Infrastructure & Development Sector.
The President of the French Republic, Mr. Nicolas Sarkozy, has conferred upon Mr. Nanda the award of "Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur" (Knight of the Legion of Honour), by a decree dated 14th February 2008.
A dynamic personality, Mr. Nanda has spoken at various international conferences and has even led various task forces and missions of associations like CII and Bombay Chamber of Commerce & Industry. He is the President of the Indo-French Chamber of Commerce. A member of the governing council of the EU Chambers of Commerce in India and the governing board of Indo-American Society, he has also been a part of high-powered committee set up by the Government of Maharashtra to do an in-depth study of issues related to employment generation. |
